Advanced Photography Class is a weekly class in advanced level studio photography for community youth in Red Hook, Brooklyn.
During this class, students learn to use different camera formats, experiment with light and learn to develop a personal vision and style. The curriculum equips students with knowledge of the methods and techniques of shooting in the studio and on location. Topics covered include camera operation, exposure, lighting, metering, processing, printing as well as the use of artificial and natural lighting. Additionally, students learn the ins and outs of the roles of photo and studio assistants, thus gaining an opportunity for professional work experience and career advancement. Each class consists of critique, demonstration and hands-on activities. Additionally, program participants attend Labs Mentorship Program and meet Labs staff and teachers in one-on-one consultations on career advancement. The artwork created in this program is used to build personal portfolios and are featured at an annual student exhibition Red Hook Today.
Classes will be taught by our seasoned teacher Bashira Webb.
