Red Hook Labs is pleased to announce our partnership with CALVIN KLEIN, Inc.
In 2017 CALVIN KLEIN supported our nonprofit Youth Community Programs, with CALVIN KLEIN staff volunteering as panelists, lecturers and mentors to a select group of Labs’ photography students. Labs Youth Community Programs provide free high-caliber photography classes linking year-round skills training to industry opportunities for local public high school students, demonstrably making a positive impact on the community.
The selected Youth Community Program students gained a comprehensive overview of the different jobs within the fashion industry and were given hands-on experience in these different roles. From working as a producer to studio assistant, set designer and creative director, the program’s objective was to introduce the students to the operations of the fashion and photography field.
The program concluded with individual photo shoots by each student, all mentored by the CALVIN KLEIN staff volunteers. From the briefing process, to concepting and producing, and ultimately the realization of each student’s final photo shoot project, the initiative’s six participants garnered an invaluable understanding of the creative industry. The resulting images will debut on the CALVIN KLEIN Projects page in early 2018.
