Youth Summer Program

Labs Youth Summer Program is a 5-week-long intensive course in portraiture and video production for teens and young adults (ages 15-19), based in Red Hook, Brooklyn. The program takes students from concept to project completion, culminating in a final film and publication of still images.

During this program, Red Hook Labs’ well equipped studio turns into a campus, where Red Hook teens gather to create stories about the neighborhood. The students work simultaneously on several projects which address the issues in Red Hook community and create stories about the people around it. The students learn to document extraordinary stories around them, conduct documentary interviews as well as shoot studio portraits. The course provides a comprehensive introduction to studio photography and video with talks, workshops and guest lectures by acclaimed professionals and teaching artists.
